For those of us that attempt to get up 6am every morning to exercise this generally isn’t a problem but there are so many reasons why you shouldn’t exercise with makeup.
In summary you shouldn’t exercise with makeup, in particular foundation or powder as you can risk congestion by blocking the pores in your skin.
When you exercise your circulation increases, your pores enlarge and you sweat, this is your skins way of releasing toxins within the body. Your skin needs to be able to breath during a workout and adding makeup to the mix can result in breakouts and an uneven complexion.
To avoid congestion we recommend the following:
1. Prior to any workout, morning or night, cleanse your skin removing any makeup or oils and apply a light moisturiser that will absorb quickly.
2. After your workout it is important to cleanse immediately while your pores are still enlarged so as not to let the sweat and dirt potentially settle in them.
3. If you have to wear makeup during a workout (not recommended) try an oil free tinted moisturiser but you will need to race home to wash it off before your skin cools down.
